Company Overview

Qdoba is a fast casual American food chain known for Mexican-style dishes. The company is a subsidiary of Jack in the Box Inc., the company responsible for anothe equally interesting and popular American fast food restaurant known for their burgers and burritos. Qdoba also known as Qdoba Mexican Eats currently has more than 600 locations all over the United States, and they are continuously growing because of the popularity of their Mexican-style fare. The restaurant is best known for their San Francisco style burritos, tacos, quesadillas, taco salads, Mexican gumbo and so much more.

Qdoba’s roots can be traced back to the Zuma Fresh Mexican Grill which first opened in 1995. The latter was founded by partners Anthony Miller and Robert Hauser in Denver, Colorado. The partnership began when the two met in New York, while Hauser was studying at the Culinary Institute of America and working at the famous Le Cirque restaurant. The creation of Zuma Fresh was a success, with lines stretching out the door during dinner service. In 1997, the owners were forced to change the name of the restaurant to Z-Teca Mexican Grill due to a lawsuit filed by a Boston restaurant using the Zuma name as well. Various other lawsuits followed still concerning their name change, and so finally, they came up with Qdoba in 1999 to remedy their on-going lawsuits.
